Spring Zao Journey | 2025 Zao Echo Line Opening Information

The Zao Echo Line is a 26km-long mountain road connecting Zao Town, Miyagi Prefecture and Kamiyama City, Yamagata Prefecture.

In spring, it is known as a tourist spot where you can enjoy the snow corridor.

The opening date of 2025 is scheduled from 11:00 on April 25 (Fri). ​

On March 13, snow removal work for opening began, and depending on the amount of snow more than usual, the amount of snow more than usual.

Near the summit, about 11 meters of snow is piled up, and from late April to mid-May immediately after opening, immediately after opening.

A "snow corridor" with snow walls over 10 meters high on both sides of the road will appear.

The crater lake "Ogama", a scenic spot at an altitude of about 1,600m, welcomes visitors with clear air and magnificent mountains.

Until mid-May after opening, traffic will be closed at night (17:00 to 8:00).
