Spring Zao Journey | 2025 Zao Echo Line Opening Information

The Zao Echo Line is a 26-kilometer mountain road connecting Zao Town, Miyagi Prefecture and Kamiyama City, Yamagata Prefecture.

Spring is known as a tourist spot where you can enjoy the "Snow Corridor".

The opening date of 2025 is scheduled to be from 11:00 on April 25 (Fri). ​

Snow removal work for opening began on March 13, and due to the amount of snow more than usual.

There is about 11 meters of snow near the summit, and from late April to mid-May immediately after opening,

A "snow corridor" with snow walls over 10 meters tall towering on both sides of the road will appear.

This is a natural art that can be done by removing snow accumulated during the winter, and it feels like running in a maze of snow!

A scenic spot at an altitude of about 1,600m, the crater lake "Migama" welcomes visitors with clear air and magnificent mountains.
The crater lake "Migama" has a beautiful contrast with the mountain surface where snow still remains, and is very popular as a shooting spot!

Until mid-May after opening, traffic will be closed at night (17:00 to 8:00).
