Lake Kamafusa Prefecture Natural Environment Conservation Area| Mercure Miyagi Zao Resort & Spa

This area is located in Kawasaki-cho, and is centered on Lake Kamafusa (390ha), which is a water reservoir for residents of the Sendai metropolitan area.
Lake Kamafusa is an artificial lake formed by the Goishi River by the 45.5m high and 177m long Kamafusa Dam in 1970. It is used for various purposes such as water, agricultural water, industrial water, power generation, flood control.
On the north, east and south of Lake Kamafusa, a hill of about 300m encompasses the lake, led by Mt. Kamafusa at an altitude of 385m located just south of the dam, and in the west, the Zao Mountain Range Is a beautiful landscape.
The lake is crowded with many anglers as a famous spot for smelt fishing, and the lakeside Kokuei Michinoku Lakeside Park (Michinoku Park) is often used as a place for families to relax.
